Sophie Winkleman says Kate has been ‘amazingly brave’

Sophie Winkleman has spoken of her admiration for the King and the Princess of Wales as both experience very public battles with cancer.
Winkleman, 44, married the King’s second cousin in 2009 and is known within the royal family as Lady Frederick Windsor.
At 53rd in-line to the British throne, Lord Frederick is not a working royal, but he and Winkleman are often at big royal family events including Trooping the Colour, weddings, church services and Royal Ascot.

The working actress has thrown her support behind The Big Issue Group and its Big Community initiative, a campaign aimed at reducing homelessness – an issue which the Prince of Wales has backed over the years.
Winkleman was asked about her royal relatives during a recent interview about the campaign.

Speaking of the Princess of Wales, Winkleman said: “She’s wonderful”.
Winkleman told Hello!: “I last saw her at Wimbledon; it was so cheering to see her, beautiful as ever. She’s been amazingly brave and is doing so well.”
In September, Catherine announced she had finished chemotherapy and was now ”entering a new phase of recovery”, following her diagnosis earlier this year.
The Princess of Wales is expected to host her annual charity Christmas concert at Westminster Abbey in December after attending a planning meeting at Windsor Castle last week.
Winkleman and Lord Frederick, and their two daughters Maud, 11, and Isabella, eight, attended the event last year along with the rest of the royal family.
Speaking of King Charles, she said: ”Duty and service run through him like a stick of rock; it just doesn’t occur to him to rest, something which those who love him are desperate for him to do”.
The King announced he had been diagnosed with cancer in February.

His Majesty and Queen Camilla will arrive in Australia on October 18 for a brief visit to Sydney and Canberra, before travelling to Samoa.
The tour has been drastically scaled back due to the King’s ongoing treatment for cancer with a number of accommodations made on medical advice to ensure Charles, 75, is able to “preserve his energies”, a palace source said when the tour was confirmed.
Winkleman added: “He’s battling cancer and doesn’t give himself a moment off – he’s a hugely inspirational man.
“The central royal family work very hard. It’s not an easy existence, having a spotlight on you from the second you’re born.
“I count pretty much every one of them as a trusted friend. I’m very lucky.”
She and Lord Frederick Windsor are celebrating 15 years of marriage this year.
Lord Frederick is the son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, and sister to Lady Gabriella Windsor. He is related to the late Queen Elizabeth II through his father.
